Glass reinforced concrete or GFRC is an engineered material with desirable qualities and multiple advantages compared to other types of concrete. It consists of glass fibers contained in a cementitious medium. Glass fibers are incorporated into the matrix. The laminate form is the most common in structural applications. It consists of stacked layers where the orientation of the fibers in each layer can be used to produce a range of mechanical properties in the resulting composite material. GFRC has numerous advantages. The main advantage is that GFRC is lighter and more durable than solid concrete. Glass reinforced concrete also appears to be superior compared to precast concrete.
