How to Control the Speed of a DC Motor Using IC L165

The present motor control design does not involve complicated PWM circuits, yet neatly explains how to control the speed of a DC motor using just a single power op amp – the IC L165 from SGS. Understanding the circuit is also pretty simple and it can be built quickly over a general purpose PCB. The main feature of the circuit is its two quadrant control, where the connected motor can be spun either ways and stopped at will through a single potentiometer control.
