Capillary Tube Refrigeration. Capillary Tube in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning

One of the most commonly used throttling devices for the refrigeration and air conditioning systems is the capillary tube. The capillary tube is made up of copper and it has very small diameter ranging from 0.5 to 2.28 mm (0.020 to 0.09 inches). Capillary tube used as the throttling device in the domestic refrigerators, deep freezers, water coolers and air conditioners. When the refrigerant passes through the capillary tube there is drop in its pressure. The drop in pressure depends on the diameter of the capillary and also on the length of the capillary.
