Bronze Rudder and Propeller Resurfacing Techniques

There are various bronze rudder and propeller resurfacing techniques; the two prominent ones being the use of two-part epoxy resin and laser coating. In both techniques a coating is applied to the surface of the bronze components effectively resurfacing them by filling the crevices and pitting caused by corrosion, erosion and cavitation. The component is subsequently machined to achieve a good quality, corrosion resistant finish before being refitted to the boat. Zinc anodes can be attached to or close by the components to mitigate the damage caused by galvanic corrosion.
